Celtic working on deal to re-sign Kieran Tierney

Celtic are working on securing a pre-contract agreement with Kieran Tierney, with the left-back set to leave Arsenal.

According to Football Insider, Celtic are already working on securing Kieran Tierney to a pre-contract agreement. The process is not a straightforward one, as the Hoops will have to find a way to strike a deal with the Arsenal left-back with regard to wages and ward off rival interest.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is eager to bolster his squad ahead of next season to make them capable of competing on all fronts. One of the agendas for the club comes in the form of signing Kieran Tierney, as the Hoops are indeed interested in bringing the left-back to the club.

Tierney is set to leave Arsenal at the end of the season when his contract expires, as the Gunners passed up the chance to trigger an extension in his existing deal. The Scottish international, a £25 million signing from Celtic, will be a free agent in six months, and the Hoops are already seen as favourites to land him.

Tierney is keen on re-uniting with Rodgers and restarting his career back at Celtic Park, where he enjoyed a trophy laden period before his move to Arsenal. Celtis are already working on securing a pre-contract agreement with the Scottish left-back and will be eager to be swift in their operation to avoid complications.

Arsenal are already well-stocked in the left-back area, especially after the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly this season as well as through summer signing Riccardo Calafiori. They also have Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu in their ranks, meaning the £25 million man won’t be missed from a sporting side.

Celtic have plenty of work ahead with Tierney

Bringing back a player they let go many years ago will be seen as a positive sign for Celtic’s transfer policy, as Tierney packs the necessary experience needed by Rodgers in his side. The Hoops will have to overcome a few obstacles before finding an agreement, with wages and rival interest considered key elements in any deal for the Arsenal wide player.

The idea here is to find a pre-contract agreement as soon as possible to avoid any complications later on, as Celtic will want things sorted out next month rather than wait until the summer. Tierney, for his part, is showing positive signs about returning to his old club, which will help the Hoops in their quest.
