Johan Bakayoko has no chance of joining Newcastle United in January

Newcastle United reportedly have no chance of securing the services of 21-year-old Belgian international Johan Bakayoko in the January transfer window.

According to a report by a report by Dutch outlet PSV Inside, Johan Bakayoko is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. However, the Magpies do not have a chance of landing the 21-year-old PSV Eindhoven winger in the January transfer window, as the Eredivisie champions do not intend to part ways with him next month.

Johan Bakayoko and his rise at PSV Eindhoven

Johan Bakayoko has established himself as one of the brightest young attacking prospects in the world since joining PSV Eindhoven from Anderlecht half a decade ago. The youngster began in the Eredivisie club’s under-17 team before rising through the ranks and breaking into the first-team squad.

The 21-year-old has been a mainstay in the final third for PSV Eindhoven in recent seasons, and he has come leaps and bounds during this period. Bakayoko has turned out over 100 times thus far for the Eredivisie champions while chipping in with 27 goals and 22 assists.

Meanwhile, the Belgian international has also grown in stature in his national squad, making 18 appearances while scoring once. Bakayoko’s exploits for his club and country have piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the young winger, with Newcastle United among his prospective suitors.

Will Newcastle United sign Bakayoko?

Newcastle United’s interest in Johan Bakayoko is understandable. The Magpies are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the January transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Miguel Almiron. The Paraguayan international will likely leave Newcastle United next year, thus necessitating the addition of a new forward.

So, Bakayoko has emerged as a viable target for the Tyneside outfit heading into the January transfer window. However, a winter move will not see the light of day, and the Magpies “have no chance” of landing the Belgian international next month.

Recent reports have suggested that financial issues will force Newcastle United’s hand instead of securing his services in the January transfer window. It will be interesting to see if the 21-year-old lands at St. James’ Park in the 2025 summer transfer window or if the Magpies turn their attention elsewhere.
