Chelsea could move for an attacker in January

Chelsea could sign a replacement in the attack should Mykhailo Mudryk receive a lengthy ban for his failed doping test.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea is set to be active in the January window to bring an attacker should Mykhailo Mudryk receive a lengthy ban. Despite the Ukranian not featuring in a prominent role under Enzo Maresca this season, the club will take it as an opportunity to bring new quality to the attack.

Chelsea has been a consistent transfer market leader over the last few years, especially since their new owners entered the frame. With well over a billion spent on new talent, the Blues are not showing any sings of slowing down anytime soon.

Ahead of the January window, the wider expectations suggested Chelsea might go for a new striker. There are some doubts about Christopher Nkunku’s future, meaning bringing in a new centre-forward would have made sense.

There are also some reports about talks with Joao Felix to resolve a situation emerging from his lack of regular game time. The Portuguese are not expected to leave in January, as the report states Chelsea will attack the transfer market for a new attacker in January.

The idea here is to bring someone to replace Mykhailo Mudryk, who could be handed a lengthy ban for failing his doping test a while ago. Chelsea feels the absence of the Ukranian attacker will have an impact on their depth, thus leading to speculation that they will spend in the January window.

Chelsea to sign an attacker in January

Mudryk’s untimely failed roping test will test Chelsea’s resolve to strengthen their side. Multiple reports are linking them to a striker like Liam Delap and Victor Osimhen. Still, either moves are in doubt for the January window, as the idea of paying exorbitant fees for both won’t make sense in January.

Should Mydryk receive a lengthy ban for his failed doping test, then Chelsea will be compelled to bring in a replacement option for the Ukranian. Another wide player could be on their agenda, although even without Mudryk, they still have strong depth in all wide areas.
