Chelsea set to compete with Tottenham for David Hancko

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing 27-year-old Slovakian defender David Hancko from Feyenoord.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing David Hancko. Feyenoord will demand around €50 million to part ways with the Slovakian international.

Hancko has done quite well for the Dutch outfit, and he has shown his quality in European football as well. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for both clubs if they can get the deal done. However, the €50 million asking price could complicate matters. Chelsea and Tottenham will probably hope to sign him for a more reasonable fee.

The Slovakian defender has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in English football, and he will look to establish himself as a key player for Chelsea or Tottenham if the move goes through. Both clubs could prove to be attractive destinations for the player.

Moving to the Premier League will be an exciting opportunity for David Hancko, and he will look to test himself in England against world-class attackers. The defender is likely to be tempted to join Chelsea and Tottenham if the opportunity presents itself.

Chelsea need additions in January

Chelsea have been quite impressive this season, and they are currently second in the Premier League table. They will hope to secure Champions League qualification and push for the league title during the second half of the season. The Blues need the right additions in January to finish the season strongly.

Signing a quality central defender will help them tighten up at the back. Players like Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile have been linked with moves away from the club, and they will need to be replaced adequately. Hancko could prove to be a quality addition.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are lacking in depth in the defensive unit due to injuries to key players and they need another central defender, with Hancko featuring on their radar. The Slovak would prove to be a very useful acquisition for them, and he could provide cover for the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

The 27-year-old defender is at the peak of his powers, and he will look to hit the ground running in English football if the move goes through.
