Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to secure the services of 19-year-old CA Lanus full-back prodigy Julio Soler.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Julio Soler. The CA Lanus left-back is also a target for Liverpool and other Premier League clubs. However, the bigwigs might fall behind Bournemouth, with the Cherries opening talks with the Argentine club regarding a deal for the full-back prodigy.
The Julio Soler story
Julio Soler is the latest highly-rated prospect to rise in prominence in South America. A native of Asuncion, he could have represented Paraguay but has turned out for Argentina in age-group football after spending his formative years thus far in the country.
The 19-year-old broke into the first-team squad at CA Lanus in the 2022 season and has become a regular for the club in the last 12 months. Soler has turned out over 50 times thus far for CA Lanus while chipping in with two assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur.
A man in demand
Arsenal might dip into the market for a left-back, although Mikel Arteta has several makeshift options in his squad. However, Oleksandr Zinchenko has blown hot and cold this year, while Jakub Kiwior faces an uncertain future at the Emirates. So, the Argentine full-back prodigy has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Julio Soler is understandable. The Reds are planning for life after Andrew Robertson. The Scottish international is on the wrong side of 30 and has been inconsistent in recent months. So, the CA Lanus wonderkid, who has been a target since the summer, is an option worth considering for Liverpool.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, Ben Davies will likely leave as a free agent once his contract expires. With Destiny Udogie the only recognised left-back in the first-team squad at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Soler has emerged as a viable target for the North London club.
However, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham might fall behind Bournemouth in the race to secure the services of the 19-year-old Argentine full-back. The Cherries have opened talks with CA Lanus regarding a move for the teenage prospect. So, it will be interesting to see where Soler lands next year.
