Manchester United have scouted Ederson multiple times, talks yet to begin

Manchester United maintain an interest in Ederson, although talks are yet to begin owing to internal disagreements within the club.

According to an update by reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have scouted Ederson ahead of January with the club seriously considering making a move. There are no active talks with Atalanta over a transfer as internal decisions with the club are yet to give a full go ahead to make an approach for the Brazilian midfielder.

Ederson has proven beyond doubt that he is ready for a bigger challenge at a top Premier League or La Liga side. Atalanta are reaping the benefits of having the Brazilian in their team as Gian Piero Gasperini’s men are leading the Serie A standings and will certainly show reluctance to sell him in January.

That said, they might not close the door should a sizeable offer around their €50-60 million valuation arrive in the winter window. The midfielder has plenty of suitors from France, Spain, Italy and primarily England, as the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are keen.

Manchester City are also considering him as an option ahead of the January transfer window, as it appears that Manchester United are growing serious about the midfielder. Ruben Amorim is eager to strenghthen his midfield options as there are some current stars he would like to offload, which does point the finger at the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

Ederson’s presence and tenacity are something that makes him a top midfield target for a variety of clubs, with Manchester United very much in the mix. They have scouted the €50-60 million-rated midfielder extensively, as per Florian Plettenberg. However, their interest has not upgraded to talks with Atalanta so far.

Internal decisions preventing Ederson talks

Plettenberg goes on to explain further about Manchester United’s chase of Ederson and claims that internally, not everyone is on board with the idea of signing the Brazilian. This is also the reason why talks have not commenced with Atalanta or the player’s side to get information.

Ederson’s current deal with Atalanta lasts until 2027, and while there might be a bit of resistance from the Bergamo club, they could sell for the right price. The €50-60 million-rated midfielder will be a good fit, but should Manchester United delay their decision over a pursuit, the chances of rivals swooping in are high at this point.
