Julen Lopetegui has asked West Ham United to push for the signature of Real Sociedad midfield mainstay Brais Mendez.
According to a report from Fichajes, Brais Mendez could end up parting ways with Real Sociedad in the upcoming transfer window as West Ham United are after his services. The Hammers seek more creativity in the centre of the park and their manager Julen Lopetegui has asked for the signing of the Spanish international.
Mendez came up the ranks at Celta Vigo. After making a name for himself while playing for their first team, he ended up making the move to Sociedad in the summer of 2022. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has only gone from strength to strength over the last few seasons.
While he only has three goals and three assists in his 21 outings across competitions this season, Mendez has been one of the standout performers for Sociedad. His overall game has been spot on and he has even featured in deeper roles to help his team out.
West Ham to push for Mendez’s signature
His current contract runs until the summer of 2028. While there is a significant amount of time still left, his future has become a big talking point as West Ham United are looking to prise him away. Julen Lopetegui is a huge admirer of the Spanish attacking midfielder and he wants to bring him to London at the start of next year.
