Manchester United are keen to explore a move for Victor Osimhen and beat Chelsea to the striker’s signature, although any deal will be complicated.
According to Caught Offside, Manchester United are eager to beat Chelsea in the race for Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker has a release clause that could be within the Red Devils’ reach, as he will be made available in January or next summer.
Manchester United will be buzzing from their derby victory over Manchester City away from home, and Ruben Amorim will think of it as the first of many positive steps towards the future. That said, there will be a lot of planning taking place in the background regarding the upcoming transfer window, as the Portuguese boss is looking to strengthen his squad as much as the budget allows.
A left-back is on the agenda, while a striker might be seen as a necessity if some of their current attackers depart. There are growing concerns about the future of Marcus Rashford, while Joshua Zirkzee is also not settled at the club yet. There is talk of a move to Juventus for the latter, while the club might be open to offers for the former.
Should either of those leave, which does look tricky ahead of January, then Manchester United will look to use the funds to buy a new striker. They already have Viktor Gyokeres in sight, with Amorim likely to lean towards the Swede, with whom he has worked extensively at Sporting CP.
Victor Osimhen is now emerging as a target for Amorim, as the Nigerian striker’s release clause will play a considerable role in Manchester United’s thinking. The only complication to make any deal happen is money, as the Red Devils will be looking to beat Chelsea in the race for the Galatasaray star, who is there on loan from Napoli.
Chelsea and Manchester United in Osimhen battle
Chelsea were in extensive talks with Victor Osimhen back in the summer before the window shut, and no deal could be made. The Blues retain an interest and might be open to paying the €75 million release clause in his contract and take him off Galatasaray and Napoli’s hands in the January transfer window.
Hence, Chelsea’s interest in Osimhen, who has 15 goals and assists this season in Turkey, as he has shown he still has the lethal instincts in front of goal. There is every chance for a big battle to ensue for the Nigetian ahead of January. However, any deal for Manchester United will depend on the money available to spend in the winter market.
