Fiorentina make approach for Radu Dragusin

Radu Dragusin has reportedly emerged as a target for high-flying Serie A club Fiorentina, with La Viola asking for information about the 22-year-old Tottenham defender.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Radu Dragusin is the subject of interest from Fiorentina. The high-flying Serie A club will look to sign a centre-back in the January transfer window. So, the 22-year-old Tottenham centre-back has emerged as a target, with La Viola submitting an enquiry for him.

Radu Dragusin and his Tottenham travails

Radu Dragusin has had to bide his time since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Genoa CFC in January 2024. The youngster was among the best young prospects in Serie A when he left Genoa earlier this year but endured a frustrating second half of the 2023/24 season.

However, things have gradually improved for the 22-year-old defender, with fitness issues in the defensive unit at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ensuring regular game time for him. Dragusin has amassed over 1,00 minutes of game time across 16 appearances in all competitions.

While Dragusin’s fortunes have improved in the last few weeks, his long-term future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium remains uncertain. The Romanian international is a target for several high-profile Serie A clubs, including Napoli. The latest report has linked the highly-rated centre-back with Fiorentina.

Serie A return on the horizon?

Fiorentina’s interest in Radu Dragusin is understandable. While Raffaele Palladino has several centre-backs in his squad, Marin Pongracic is recovering from a hamstring injury. So, the high-flying Serie A club should invest in a central defender to sustain the challenge for the Scudetto in the second half of the 2024/25 season.

So, Dragusin has emerged as a viable target for Fiorentina, with La Viola submitting an enquiry to Tottenham for information about the Romanian international. In addition, the young centre-back has considerable experience in Serie A. However, a mid-season transfer for the Tottenham defender might be a tall order, considering the North London club’s injury crisis.

Recent reports have claimed that Tottenham will not entertain any offers to part ways with the 22-year-old centre-back in the January transfer window. So, Fiorentina must look elsewhere next month to bolster the central defensive unit.
