Juventus rule out Douglas Luiz sale, Manchester City not interested

Aston Villa will not re-sign Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window, with Juventus not interested in cashing in on him next month.

According to a report by Football Insider, Douglas Luiz might be the subject of interest from Aston Villa after Monchi’s recent comments about potentially re-signing the Juventus midfielder. However, the Serie A giants do not want to make a knee-jerk decision on the 26-year-old’s future despite his struggles since arriving in the summer transfer window.

So, the Bianconeri will not cash in on the South American midfielder in the January transfer window. Meanwhile, another report by Football Insider has suggested that Manchester City will not launch the offensive to re-sign the Juventus player next month.

Douglas Luiz and his faltering fortunes

Douglas Luiz has struggled to stamp his authority since joining Juventus from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old arrived at the Serie A club amid hype and fanfare surrounding him after his exploits for the West Midlands outfit. However, his stock has dropped in the last few months.

While Luiz has struggled with fitness issues, he would have hoped for more game time than 624 minutes of action in 18 appearances in all competitions. However, that has not stopped the rumour mill from going abuzz, with recent reports linking the Brazilian international with Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Premier League return on the horizon?

Recent reports have suggested that Aston Villa might not re-sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus. However, Monchi recently fanned the flames of speculation after suggesting he “would always take Douglas back, from any club”. However, the Serie A giants do not want to cash in on the former Aston Villa midfielder in the January transfer window.

As for Manchester City, Rodri has played his final game of the 2024/25 season after picking up a long-term knee injury several weeks ago. However, while the Premier League champions want to bolster their midfield unit, they will not launch the offensive to re-sign the Juventus midfielder.

Recent reports have also linked the 26-year-old Brazilian international with Manchester United. However, a swift return to the Premier League will not see the light of day, with Juventus ruling out a knee-jerk decision on Luiz’s future amid his struggles at the Serie A club.
