Liverpool and Newcastle United are keen on signing PSV Eindhoven attacking sensation Johan Bakayoko.
According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool and Newcastle United are both interested in having Johan Bakayoko in their squad. Both Premier League outfits could try to sign him in the upcoming transfer window thanks to his consistent performances for PSV Eindhoven.
Bakayoko joined PSV back in the summer of 2019. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team in 2022. The Belgian attacking sensation hasn’t looked back since making it into their senior side.
He has established himself as one of the mainstays and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed. In the ongoing season, the right-winger has six goals and three assists in his 19 outings. Since he is only 21, Bakayoko can surely go on one of the world’s best.
He can play on either flank and is capable enough to take on any defender in the world. With his contract at PSV running out in the summer of 2026, clubs are keeping a close eye on him and could soon launch a move to acquire his services.
Premier League clubs could raid PSV
Newcastle are one of the clubs that are interested in signing him. The Magpies wanted to add more quality on the flanks during the summer. They were interested in Chelsea’s Noni Madueke but that deal didn’t go through.
Now, they are looking at Bakayoko as Eddie Howe is keen on bolstering his attack in January. He seeks more firepower to ensure the Tyneside club meet their expectations. They will knock on the doors of PSV in the upcoming window but the Magpies are not the only English club who are keen on having him in their squad as Liverpool are also interested.
The Merseyside club want to prepare for life without Mohamed Salah. His contract runs out at the end of the season and he could choose to leave as a free agent. If he does part ways, Bakayoko could help them cope with his absence.
The Reds have been monitoring him and the upcoming could be an opportunity to secure his services. Meanwhile, PSV do not want to lose out on their star mid-season and they will attempt to price out both English top-flight clubs as they are looking for a fee of around £30-40 million.
