European giants Manchester City and Real Madrid are ready to battle it out for the services of Spanish youth international Gabri Veiga.
Gabri Veiga seems keen on making a return to Europe in the near future and according to Estadio Deportivo via Fichajes, Manchester City and Real Madrid are two of the biggest clubs who are interested in bringing the Celta Vigo graduate back to the continent.
Veiga was a part of the Celta Vigo setup since his early days. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2022. After an impressive debut campaign with their senior side when all major clubs in Europe wanted to sign the Spanish sensation, he ended up deciding to make the move to the Saudi Pro League.
His decision caused a lot of debate as moving to the Middle East this early in his career wasn’t considered a wise move. While the 22-year-old midfield sensation found it difficult to adjust to life in Saudi Arabia, he has slowly gotten used to the surroundings and has been a key figure in the Al-Ahli setup.
Veiga has been a consistent performer for the Saudi Pro League club and he has showcased his class in the AFC Champions League. While he a key part of their first team and his contract there runs until the summer of 2026, the Spanish youth international is considering returning to Europe.
Veiga could return to Europe in 2025
He wants to return to one of the best leagues in the world and there is believed to be interest in his services from Manchester City and Real Madrid. Los Blancos are struggling to cope with the absence of Toni Kroos and with Luka Modric’s departure on the cards, they want to reinforce their midfield.
Veiga who can feature in multiple roles in the centre of the park is seen as an ideal fit for their system. The Spanish giants are looking to bring him back to his homeland but they will face significant competition from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City who see the 22-year-old as a great attacking option for their team. His creativity is what attracts interest from the Premier League giants.
Both European giants are considering making a move for him next summer and it will be interesting to see how things develop as Veiga is quite serious about a return to Europe.
