According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea are on the verge of signing high-profile youngster Mathis Eboue from Watford in the coming period. The two clubs are already in talks over the compensation required to take the 15-year-old prodigy to Cobham.

One might remember Emmanuel Eboue, who played right-back and as a midfielder for Arsenal. The former Ivory Coast international’s son, Mathis Eboue, is already making a steady mark on many prospective suitors with his good displays for Watford.

The 15-year-old prodigy has been on the books of the Hornets, although he may only stay there for a short time as Chelsea are set to sign him soon. The Blues are on the verge of bringing teenage sensation to Cobham and integrating him into their youth sides.

Chelsea and Watford are engaged in talks over the compensation required to take the young peospect away. The Blues are aware of the stringent rules in place as part of the process that oversees the movement of young footballers within the system.

Chelsea recently signed Zak Sturge and Shim Mheuka from Brighton & Hove Albion, which may give some idea of the level of money they may have to pay to Watford for Eboue. For instance, the Blues are paying a fee of £900,000 for Sturge, which could rise to £3.4 million, and for Mheuka, they agreed to pay £1 million, rising to £4.25 million as per the report.

Chelsea serious about building their youth system

Chelsea have revelled in developing players in young talents through their academy, and they have continued to add to their Cobham academy. The addition of players of Eboue’s quality will ensure there’s continuity in their process, as the conditions in the football pyramid will require more and more clubs to develop talents from their academies.

Hence, Chelsea are in a competitive mood to develop its academy talents and make them bonafide first-team stars. The Blues, like other clubs, are very serious about this prospect and will continue to sign more youngsters from other academies in the future.
