Manchester United and Manchester City scouts set to run the rule over Viktor Gyokeres

The Manchester clubs will have scouts present to watch Viktor Gyokeres in action as interest in the striker intensifies.

According to Record via Sport Witness, scouts from Manchester United and Manchester City are set to watch Viktor Gyokeres in action in the coming period. Interest in the €100 million-rated striker intensifies with time, as Sporting CP could consider a summer sale.

Ever since Viktor Gyokeres scored a hattrick against Manchester City in the Champions League, the Premier League champions have entered the race for the Swede. Apart from that performance against Pep Guardiola’s side, he has been prolific this season, much like he was in the previous campaign.

Sporting CP will consider a summer sale as they know the difficulties in holding on to the €100 million-rated striker now that Ruben Amorim has left to join Manchester United. The Swedish striker has a host of suitors from the Premier League chasing his signature, although a winter move looks unlikely unless one of them triggers his €100 million release clause.

Barcelona have been linked before, but given his price point, Gyokeres is an impossible target for the Catalans. Hence, the likelihood of one of the Premier League sides signing him seems high in the future, with Manchester United and Manchester City ready to intensify their interest in the €100 million-rated striker.

Both clubs believe they have a ‘secret weapon’ in the race, which refers to Manchester United’s manager Amorim and incoming Manchester City sporting director Hugo Viana. Both those men have been together at Sporting CP and have a direct connection with Gyokeres.

The Manchester clubs to scout Gyokeres

The report begins with the story of how Manchester City have acquired access ahead of Sporting’s Champions League clash with Arsenal to be in the stadium. Their agenda, alongside scouts from Manchester United, is to watch Gyokeres in action against the Gunners, as a big performance here will assert the belief that the striker is ready for the big stage.

With the scouts from the Manchester teams set to watch the €100 million-rated striker in action, one would expect Gyokeres to have a good game against the Gunners. While a January move seems unlikely, these scouts will likely keep tabs on the forward between now and the end of the season before either of these Manchester clubs make a move next summer.
