Manchester City are enquired about the availability of Atalanta star Ederson as they look to reinforce their midfield.

Manchester City’s search for a new midfielder continues as they look to bring in a cover for injured Rodri. Atalanta’s Ederson is believed to be their top priority and according to a report from GOAL, Pep Guardiola’s team have recently enquired about what needs to be done to bring him to the Premier League.

Ederson has only gone from strength to strength since joining Atalanta from Salernitana in the summer of 2022. He has established himself as a mainstay at the Italian club and helped them win the Europa League last season.

His consistent performances haven’t gone unnoticed. Multiple top clubs want to sign the 25-year-old who has broken into the Brazil national team on the back of his consistency. He is a key figure in the Atalanta setup and his ability to feature in different roles has played a big part in the club’s success of late.

While his contract there runs until the summer of 2027 and he is quite happy, Ederson could still end up making a move in the upcoming transfer window as Manchester City are considering making a move for him in the winter.

Guardiola’s team suffered a massive blow when Rodri picked up a serious knee injury quite early in the season. With the Spanish international ruled out for the entirety of the season, City have found it difficult to continue their dominance.

City enquire about Ederson

In order to cope with his absence and strengthen their first team for the long run, the Manchester giants want to incorporate Ederson into their squad. While he prefers playing as a central midfielder, he can even feature in a defensive role. His ability to win back the ball and initiate attacks make him an ideal fit for Guardiola’s system.

City are keen on his signature and they recently enquired about him. The Premier League wanted to learn about the player’s availability and the cost of signing him in the upcoming window.

While Atalanta won’t want to lose him mid-season, they might not be able to resist a massive fee. The Italian outfit are looking for a minimum of €50 million to sanction the departure of one of their best players.
