Chelsea rule out 2025 move for Caoimhin Kelleher

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea have no intentions of making a move for Liverpool shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher in 2025.

According to a report from GiveMeSport, Chelsea are not interested in acquiring the services of Caoimhin Kelleher. Enzo Maresca is quite happy with the goalkeeping options at his disposal and he doesn’t intend on signing the Liverpool shot-stopper who will most likely push for a move away from the club.

Kelleher to push for a move away from Anfield

Kelleher has been a part of the Liverpool setup since 2015. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team in 2019. While he is quite highly rated and has done a great job every time he has got an opportunity, the Irish shot-stopper remains the second choice behind Alisson Becker.

With the Brazilian goalkeeper out injured, the 25-year-old has started eight games for them this season and has kept a clean sheet in four of those outings. Despite his impressive performances, there are not even the slightest of chances of him becoming their number one and he might even end up being the third choice in the team if he stays at the club next season.

The Reds struck a deal to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in the summer. He will be arriving at the club ahead of next season pushing Kelleher even further down the pecking order. The Irish international will look to leave the club in search of a more prominent role and he has been linked with a move to rivals Chelsea.

Chelsea are not keen on singing Kelleher

Despite recent reports, the Blues are not interested in him. They do not plan on bringing in another goalkeeper as Maresca is happy to have Robert Sanchez as his number one and they did sign Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal for £20.7 million to ensure they have enough competition for a place in the starting XI.

Their decision to not push for Liverpool’s in-form cup hero has a lot to do with their trust in 19-year-old Mike Penders. They signed the teenager in the summer for £17 million and decided to let him continue at KRC Genk on a season-long loan.

People at the club believe in his immense potential and they feel he could be their next summer. As a result, they do not intend on making any more investment in goal going forward.
