Arsenal and Chelsea keen on William Gomes

Arsenal and Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Sao Paulo winger William Gomes, who is tipped to join either of those London giants.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in a move for highly-rated Brazilian winger William Gomes. The teenager is beginning to make a mark for his club, and scouts from both London clubs have been closely monitoring his performances. A move in the next window might become a possibility.

Arsenal and Chelsea both have excellent projects underway, as these two teams constantly improve their squads. Using the transfer market, the two teams have had contrasting ideas, as the Gunners have been very concerted in their approach, while the Blues have shown no hesitation in spending big.

Beginning with Chelsea they have been building this young project for some time now, as the ownership is willing to sanction more signings going forward. They have mainly focused on players under a certain age bracket, as more emphasis is placed on bringing up-and-coming stars to be developed at the club.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are not very open about giving youngsters too many chances. Moreover, their transfer approach seems to be very focused on the profile they need in the squad, and so far, they have not gone big on young signings to be developed at the club,

Luckily for Arsenal, this summer has seen some of their promising academy stars make themselves big enough to become contenders for first-team action. However, they and Chelsea are looking closely at some specific players in the market ahead of the January window; one of those is Sao Paulo’s William Gomes.

William Gomes has Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest

Gomes, the 18-year-old South American winger, has been steadily making progress with Sao Paulo’s first team. However, the significant interest from Arsenal and Chelsea will have a major impact on how he views the future. Newcastle United are also keen, although the idea of joining either of the London clubs will entice the teenager.

Sao Paolo certainly rates him highly, although they are aware of scouts from Arsenal and Chelsea closely monitoring the 18-year-old South American winger’s progress. So far, there’s no information on how much the teenager would cost, although Arsenal and Chelsea will not likely pay a premium price for the attacker, at least not at this stage of his development.
