Bayern Munich and Liverpool keen on Christopher Nkunku

Liverpool are all set to battle it out with Bayern Munich for the services of Chelsea attacking sensation Christopher Nkunku.

According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are both interested in the services of Christopher Nkunku. The Chelsea attacking sensation has only had limited game time in recent months and he is considering his future at the club amidst interest from the European giants.

Nkunku made a name for himself on the back of his performances for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. The French international’s abilities along with his huge potential helped him secure a big-money move to Chelsea but things haven’t gone according to plan for him.

He joined the Blues in the summer of 2023 and was expected to help them get things back on track. But, a serious knee injury kept him on the sidelines for the majority of his debut campaign.

While the 26-year-old attacking midfielder has regained full fitness, he seems to have gone down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. Despite scoring 10 goals and bagging an assist he has been restricted to less than 700 minutes of first-team action across his 17 appearances.

Nkunku is not really pleased with the lack of minutes under Enzo Maresca. As a result, the former Leipzig star is considering parting ways with Chelsea and there is interest in his services from Bayern Munich as well as Liverpool.

European giants push for Nkunku’s signature

The Reds are looking to prepare for life without Mohamed Salah. While they will try to extend his stay, the Egyptian international could choose to walk away as a free agent next summer.

Liverpool want to prepare for the long run and they feel the versatile Nkunku who can feature as a number ten as well as on either flank could be an ideal replacement for the former AS Roma star.

While they are interested in making a move for the former Leipzig attacker, they will have to rival Bayern who are also keen on the 26-year-old’s signature.

The German giants want to freshen things up in the final third of the pitch and they feel Nkunku could be a great addition to their squad as he can provide Vincent Kompany with several tactical options in the final third of the pitch.

Both European giants are ready to battle for his signature and the player is also considering his future but Chelsea have no intentions of selling him. His contract with the Blues runs until the summer of 2029 and they feel he could still end up having an important role under Maresca.
