La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly ready to offer 24-year-old out-of-favour Spanish international Ferran Torres in the deal to sign Karim Adeyemi.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Karim Adeyemi is the subject of interest from Barcelona. However, the Blaugrana cannot afford Borussia Dortmund’s price tag of €50 million and will offer 24-year-old Spanish international Ferran Torres in the deal to sign him. Meanwhile, the German international is also a target for Liverpool.
Karim Adeyemi and his slow progress
Karim Adeyemi has taken some time to find a stable footing in his career. He rose in prominence at the Red Bull Salzburg before returning to his homeland by joining Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga giants beat stiff competition from several other European bigwigs to land him, but the investment did not prove worthwhile for the first two seasons.
However, the 22-year-old has hit the ground running in the 2024/25 season, amassing five goals and five assists in eight appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, Adeyemi’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Barcelona and Liverpool.
A man in demand
The German international has been on Barcelona’s radar for a long time. The continued interest in the Borussia Dortmund attacker is understandable, considering Ferran Torres faces an uncertain future. Interestingly, Barcelona might offer the 24-year-old Spanish international in the deal to sign Adeyemi.
With Borussia Dortmund demanding around €50 million to part ways with Karim Adeyemi, Barcelona will look to drive down the price by offering Torres in the arrangement. The Bundesliga giants will also get a direct replacement in the part-exchange deal. As for Liverpool, the Reds are in a spot of bother over the long-term future of Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian international has entered the final nine months of his contract and has yet to commit his future to the Merseyside club. So, Adeyemi has emerged as a viable target for Liverpool. In addition, the Reds should have the funds to afford a deal worth €50 million for the Borussia Dortmund attacker.
Adeyemi’s next destination will depend on whether Barcelona can convince the Bundesliga club to sign Torres in the deal to sell the German international. Meanwhile, Liverpool will look to beat the Blaugrana to the signature of the 22-year-old attacker.
