Arsenal and Liverpool have reporteldy enquired about Geovany Quenda, with Sporting CP uninterested in a sale of the teenage winger.
According to TBR, Arsenal and Liverpool have made genuine enquiries over Geovany Quenda’s availability. The teenage winger has been putting in some admirable performances, which have attracted the attention of some top clubs, including the Premier League duo. Still, Sporting CP is uninterested in a sale.
Sporting CP are busy evaluating the futures of many of their top performers, as many clubs are interested in those players. An additional problem has emerged at the club, as Ruben Amorim’s move to Manchester United in the coming days has prompted the media to link many of its top-rated stars with a move to Old Trafford.
Quenda is also on Manchester United’s list as per many reports, which also continues to link other stars, including Viktor Gyokeres, with a reunion with Amorim. Sticking with the 17-year-old wide man, who also has the interest of Chelsea, continues to grow in stature following some impressive displays for Sporting at such a tender age.
The winger, who is likened to Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, does not have the numbers of his English counterpart, but his performances have been influential at best. Sporting are clear about the teenager’s future, as they will only accept his departure if any of the interested clubs are prepared to trigger his €100 million release clause.
Paying such a sum for a teenager with less than 30 first-team appearances would be a wild bet, although some clubs are keen to open negotiations. Sporting is uninterested in a sale, which clearly points out that suitors will have to trigger his release clause.
Arsenal and Liverpool make Quenda enquiry
Arsenal are among the admirers, although they already have the right wing locked with Saka’s presence. At best, Mikel Arteta will look for someone who could cover for the England international, as in Quenda’s case, his price tag would make it wildly expensive for that role. Even then, the Gunners have made an enquiry about his availability, and the expectation is that Sporting will shut the door on any interest.
The Gunners aren’t alone, as Liverpool also enquired about Quenda. Unlike the north Londoners, the Merseysiders could have a real need for a new right winger, with the possibility of Mohamed Salah leaving still being high. However, there are doubts about whether the Reds will trigger the €100 million release clause in Quenda’s contract, which leaves the 17-year-old wide man as a big target for the future.
