Chelsea are interested in a move for Brazilian defender Murillo, with Nottingham Forest anticipating offers for the centre-back.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea will make their move for Murillo, as the Brazilian defender’s profile suits Enzo Maresca’s playing style. The centre-back’s tremendous start to the new campaign has ensured many other clubs are keen on the defender, although Nottingham Forest will make it very difficult for any suitor to have an easy time in negotiations.
Nottingham Forest has had testing seasons in the Premier League ever since their return to the top flight. Up until last season, they ensured tough relegation fights, although their form has taken a wild turn since the start of the new campaign.
After their stunning victory over West Ham, Forest moved into third spot below Manchester City, and one point ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea. Part of their stellar form under Nuno Espirito Santo has been the massive improvements in the attack and their ability to defend in games, as they are the second-best defensive side in the division behind Liverpool.
Because of their position in the football pyramid in England, some of their top performers will attract the attention of big clubs, and that remains the case with centre-back Murillo. Chelsea held an interest in the summer, with suggestions they were willing to offer Trevoh Chalobah in an exchange deal.
Instead, Espirito Santo sought Nikola. Milenkovic, and together with Murillo, the duo have formed a solid partnership at the back. Forest are anticipating offers for Murillo next summer, although, taking the current situation into account, signing the Brazilian defender would prove extremely difficult and expensive for suitors.
Chelsea are interested in Murillo
Chelsea are angling a move for Murillo next season. The Brazilian’s profile and ability on the ball make him a perfect fit for how Enzo Maresca likes his centre-backs to play. However, his price would have dramatically shot up after recent performances, as Murillo has played every minute of Forest’s ten games this season in the Premier League.
Liverpool are also keen on Murillo as a potential replacement for Virgil van Dijk, meaning the Brazilian will have no shortage of options. Chelsea’s new transfer policy begs for players like the Forest star, and they have not backed away from paying the right money for their targets. Hence, there’s a big chance for the Blues to make headway in negotiations with Forest, as they will have a tough time negotiating the price.
