Manchester City have received a massive blow in their pursuit of Tottenham defensive sensation Pedro Porro.
According to a report from GiveMeSport, Manchester City are considering making a move for the services of Pedro Porro. The Spanish full-back has been doing wonders for Tottenham and finds himself on the wishlist of quite a few top clubs.
Real Madrid are one of the big clubs who are keen on his signature. While City can surely rival Los Blancos in the race, they have suffered a massive blow as they are in danger of being forced to pay a higher fee than fellow suitors.
Porro was a part of the Manchester City squad back in the day but things didn’t work out for him. Without even making a single appearance for the club, he ended up joining Sporting CP. After making a name for himself on the back of his consistent performances in Portugal, he made the move to Tottenham.
The Spanish full-back has only gone from strength to strength since joining the North London club and has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League. Multiple top clubs are keen on his signature and they are looking to try and lure him away from Spurs.
City receive a blow in Porro pursuit
With Kyle Walker out injured and his long-term future uncertain, City are looking to add more quality on the right side of their defence. Porro is quite high on their wishlist and they are planning to raid Spurs but they have suffered a blow as Tottenham will significantly increase their demands if a Premier League club comes knocking for his signature.
Real Madrid have been monitoring him for some time. They see him as an ideal long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal. With Los Blancos keen on his signature, Spurs have slapped a massive £80 million price tag on the Spanish international.
While City can rival the Spanish giants in the race for the £80 million-rated defender, they are at risk of being forced to pay an even higher price. Tottenham do not want to strengthen a direct rival and will demand an even bigger fee to sell him to Pep Guardiola’s team.
Spurs are well in control of the situation as the player’s contract runs until the summer of 2028 and they do not need to rush into any deal.
