Chelsea ready to sell Enzo Fernandez amid exit links

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are ready to sanction the departure of their midfield star Enzo Fernandez in the summer of 2025.

Enzo Fernandez hasn’t really had the best of times at Chelsea of late. He has been reduced to the bench and there has been a lot of talk about his future at the club.

According to a report from Fichajes, the Blues are ready to sanction the departure of the Argentine World Cup winner. They are ready to listen to offers for the former Benfica star next summer.

Fernandez was already a big name in world football coming up the ranks at River Plate. He further enhanced his reputation with his performances for Benfica and the national team. While there was no shortage of interest in his signature, Chelsea forked out in excess of £100 million to sign the South American midfielder.

He was one of the first names on their team sheet over the last 18 months but of late things haven’t been that great for him. The Argentine midfielder doesn’t seem to be an ideal fit in Enzo Maresca’s system and he has been subject to the bench in their recent fixtures.

Fernandez could soon leave Chelsea

Fernandez didn’t start their last two league outings against Liverpool and Newcastle United as the Italian tactician prefers a more physical duo of Moisés Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in the centre of the park. While the former Benfica star can feature as a defensive midfield, he tends to join the attack and is not someone with a strong physical presence.

The Blues had spent a fortune to sign the 23-year-old midfielder and his absence from the starting XI has become a massive cause of concern for the people at Stamford Bridge. While they hoped he would have a massive impact on their team, things haven’t gone according to plan.

Maresca is not confident about Fernandez’s abilities to adapt to his system as a result, the report suggests the Blues are ready to offload the Argentine international. They are ready to listen to offers for him and of late, Spanish giants Real Madrid have been linked with him. Carlo Ancelotti’s team want more quality in midfield and they could try to sign the Chelsea star next summer.
