Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze has been linked with a move away from the South London club ahead of the January transfer window.
According to a report by Give Me Sport, Crystal Palace will not sell Eberechi Eze midway through the season, and the development will come as a major blow for Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Tottenham.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from Crystal Palace for months. He was expected to leave the club during the summer transfer window as well. But the asking price complicated matters.
Crystal Palace were holding out for a fee of around £68 million, and the valuation remains valid for next year. The Eagles will have to be more reasonable with their demands for the move to go through.
Arsenal could have certainly used a quality attacking midfielder like him. He is capable of slotting into the number ten role as well as that of a winger. The Englishman would have added goals and creativity to their attack, and his arrival would have allowed Arsenal to rotate some of their attacking players as well.
Manchester City need a quality alternative to Jack Grealish, who has been quite underwhelming in recent seasons. The 26-year-old would have been a quality replacement. As far as Newcastle United are concerned, they have been overly dependent on Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon for goals and creativity.
The Tyneside outfit need more quality going forward, and Eberechi Eze would have been the ideal acquisition. He would have added some much-needed technical ability and unpredictability to the side.
Spurs remain keen on Eberechi Eze
Tottenham have been long-term admirers of the player as well, and the 26-year-old was even spotted attending games at their stadium. It is clear that they are keen on securing his signature, and it will be interesting to see if they are ready to wait until the end of the season for the £100,000-a-week playmaker.
Spurs need more competition for places in the midfield unit, and the 26-year-old could compete with James Maddison for the starting spot. Tottenham will be hoping to do well across multiple competitions, and they need a deeper squad.
It will be interesting to see where the 26-year-old ends up. He will look to compete at a higher level, and joining a big club will be quite exciting for him. It remains to be seen whether Crystal Palace are ready to sanction his departure at the end of the season.
