Arsenal run rule over Chris Rigg, Anthony Patterson

Arsenal have been keeping tabs on highly-rated Sunderland Chris Rigg and Anthony Patterson ahead of a potential move next year.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal are scouting Chris Rigg and Anthony Patterson in action for EFL Championship club Sunderland.

Anthony Patterson has been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool for a long time as well. The English goalkeeper is highly rated across the country, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for all three clubs.

Arsenal need a reliable backup option to David Raya, and Patterson would be a quality addition, considering Neto will return to Bournemouth after the 2024/25 season ends. Similarly, Robert Sanchez has been quite inconsistent, and it is no surprise that Chelsea are looking at the Englishman as well.

As far as Liverpool are concerned, Caoimhin Kelleher has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months. He wants to move on in search of regular playing time, and Liverpool will have to replace him adequately. Patterson would be a long-term addition for them.

As far as Chris Rigg is concerned, he is highly rated across the country as well, and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal follow up on their interest with an official proposal to sign the wonderkid.

The opportunity to join the North London club will be quite attractive for the two young players, and they will hope to compete at the highest level with them. All three clubs have the financial muscle to sign the aforementioned players, and it will be interesting to see where they end up eventually.

Rigg and Patterson could be tempted by Premier League move

Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool have a proven track record of nurturing young players. The three Premier League bigwigs have groomed several young players into established first-team stars over the years, and any young player would be attracted to the idea of playing for them.

A move to the Premier League would be a major step up in the career of the two highly-rated Englishmen. However, they must seek game-time assurances before committing to a move. Sitting on the bench at a big club is unlikely to benefit them.
