Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City keen on Geovany Quenda

Arsenal and Chelsea are showing an interest in Sporting CP teenager Geovany Quenda, who has a mammoth €100 million release clause in his contract.

According to Caught Offside, Geovany Quenda continues to attract the biggest of clubs towards him, including Arsenal and Chelsea. The London duo are the latest in a long list of teams chasing the teenager, with Sporting CP hoping to ward off suitors by demanding his mammoth €100 million release clause.

Sporting CP may have one of the most exciting teenagers around in Geovany Quenda. The 17-year-old has become a regular under Ruben Amorim this season and has put in some critical performances in all competitions.

Starting six out of the eight league games showcases how much the manager trusts him, and in turn, Sporting CP considers him critical to their future. As is the case with their other stars, the Portuguese side has added a mammoth €100 million release clause in his contract that lasts until 2027, with the report suggesting they are not willing to negotiate on that with interested parties.

This means that clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea may have to trigger that €100 million clause to sign the 17-year-old attacking prodigy. The London duo are only the latest in a long queue of clubs chasing Quenda, who has been likened to formidable stars like Bukayo Saka, Mohamed Salah and Riyad Magrez.

Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United are also keen on the teenager, as are some other continental heavyweights. These clubs are keen on a player with his profile and would like to see him on their side in the future.

Arsenal, Chelsea to pay release clause?

Chelsea has been interested in Quenda as part of their widespread drive to attract the best young profiles. They have also shown the inclination to pay big in the past for players they feel will suit their project, although there are doubts whether they will pay the €100 million release clause that Sporting CP will reportedly demand.

Arsenal, on the other hand, is unlikely to pay that sort of fee, which is why Sporting is particularly demanding such numbers. They are eager to ward off suitors for the player they envisage hitting new heights in the future.
