Real Madrid more advanced than Manchester City in Franco Mastantuono chase, Manchester United eyeing winter move

Real Madrid are front runners in the race for the services of Manchester City and Manchester United target Franco Mastantuono.

Franco Mastantuono has had an exceptional rise at River Plate and on the back of his impressive performances, the Argentine sensation finds himself on the wishlist of the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City. According to Sport via SportWitness, Los Blancos are in a much more advanced position to sign him than Pep Guardiola’s City.

Mastantuono was promoted to the Argentine club’s first team at the start of the year. The attacking midfielder has already featured in 33 matches for them and even has five goal contributions (3 goals, 2 assists) to his name.

While he prefers playing as a ten, he is capable enough to feature on either flank. His phenomenal rise along with his huge potential have put him on the wishlist of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Madrid and City battle for Mastantuono

Real Madrid are one of the clubs that have been linked with him from the start. Los Blancos always want to sign the best talents in world football and they are keen on adding the 17-year-old to their star-studded squad.

But, they will face serious competition from Manchester City who have been tracking the youngster’s performances for a while now. Guardiola’s City have the financial strength to challenge Madrid but the report suggests Carlo Ancelotti’s team already have some sort of an agreement to sign the Argentine teenage sensation and they just need to close the deal.

While the player’s camp prefers a move to Barcelona, the Catalan giants can’t afford to battle for his signature. Their rivals Real Madrid are believed to be in a much more advanced position than City and they are looking to complete his signing before the season in Argentina comes to an end in December.

Manchester United to push for Mastantuono in January

Meanwhile, Jorge Baravalle suggests Manchester United could emerge as a potential challenger in the race and that Madrid don’t have any pre-agreement to sign Mastantuono.

The Red Devils’ new transfer policy focuses on signing the best young player and the 17-year-old is on their wishlist. They want to add him to their squad in January and are closely monitoring him at this point in time.

The new part-owners are looking to build an exciting project at Old Trafford and they are looking at Mastantuono as someone who could become a key part of their plans going ahead. But, battling the likes of Madrid and City won’t be easy for them.
