Manchester United flop Antony is open to making a return to Ajax, as he could be allowed to leave on loan in the January window.
According to Goal Brazil, Ajax could be in the mix to re-sign Manchester United flop Antony on loan in the January window. The winger will be allowed to move in a temporary deal to gain minutes and, most importantly, protect his valuation, as the Red Devils are not interested in a hasty sale.
Manchester United will be long remembered for paying close to €100 million to sign Antony from Ajax in what seemed like a concerted chase of the winger. Former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, who had only taken over at Old Trafford, was the catalyst in bringing the Brazilian, as the move has undoubtedly gone sideways.
Ten Hag does not view Antony as an important player in his plans, as he has preferred to play Alejandro Garnacho as his starting winger. Even Amad Diallo has made the necessary impact to put himself ahead of the Brazilian in the pecking order as Antony continues to struggle for game time at Old Trafford.
Both his appearances came off the bench this season, which will be a critical factor in determining his future at the club. Manchester United are ready to sell him for a hefty fee or even on loan, as they could also be looking to avoid a hasty sale of the winger, given his value has plummetted.
Manchester United have told Antony he’s free to leave temporarily in January. They want him to gain regular minutes and some confidence back into his game. A loan move might help, as several sides are keen to take him on board.
Antony is open to Ajax’s return
Antony might be tempted by the prospect of re-joining Ajax, albeit on a loan deal between January and next June. He is open to the prospect if such a deal allows him to regain his form and confidence. However, should he decide to stay within the Premier League, then Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are reportedly keen.
Either way, should Manchester United decide to send him out on loan, there will be many more clubs entering the chase for the Brazilian flop. The winger has to make that decision on where he wants to play next, although, in the context of his career, a return to Ajax might be seen as a step down at this stage.
