Napoli keen on Manchester United-linked Ben Chilwell

Napoli are ready to make a loan bid for 27-year-old Chelsea star Ben Chilwell, with Manchester United also linked with the defender.

According to Fichajes, Ben Chilwell has emerged as a big target for Napoli ahead of the January window. The Serie A leaders ponder making a loan bid for the 27-year-old Chelsea star, which could add to the pressure on Manchester United to act on their interest in the defender.

Some high-profile stars are sitting on the sidelines at Chelsea, with the January window likely to make way for their exits. Ben Chilwell is one of those stars. The 27-year-old failed to find a new club in the summer despite the Blues making it clear he does not feature in Enzo Maresca’s plans.

There were a few rumblings of interest from Manchester United, as some reports stated he could have moved as part of the deal to bring Jadon Sancho. Chilwell stayed at Chelsea, and there are chances he could still get some play time, although his future seems away from the club, as an exit in January is plausible.

Manchester United retains an interest as they have struggled so far without a recognised left-back. Luke Shaw and Tyrel Malacia have not recovered from their respective injury problems, which could open the door to bringing the 27-year-old Chelsea star. However, they need to act fast as other clubs, like West Ham United and now Napoli, are interested in Chilwell.

Sticking with the Napoli interest, Antonio Conte wants to bolster his side with top talents in January as he prepares for a title push. During the summer, Napoli signed Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour from the Premier League, and the duo has been successful so far. Conte would like to add another British star to his squad with Chilwell.

Napoli are readying loan bid for Chilwell

Napoli are ready to make a loan bid in January for the 27-year-old Chelsea star and make their presence felt in the Chilwell chase. Conte’s side are open to including a buy option in the deal, as Chelsea might be open to the prospect, although they might prefer a permanent sale in January itself.

Should Napoli come through with their loan offer, it would add massive pressure on Manchester United to act on the Chilwell interest. Either way, some offers will be on the table for the 27-year-old Chelsea star, and it remains to be seen whether he prefers to stay in England or be open to a challenge in a new league like Serie A to help Napoli with their title push.
