Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal look all set to table an offer for the services of Ajax’s teenage defensive sensation Jorrel Hato.

According to a report from Fichajes, Arsenal are looking to reinforce their defence with an eye on the future and they are interested in the series of Jorrel Hato who is already a mainstay in Ajax’s backline and has also broken into the Dutch national team.

Hato joined Ajax’s youth ranks back in 2018. He has had an exceptional rise at the Dutch club and has been with their first team since the summer of 2023. In his first full season with the senior side, he was involved in a total of 46 matches. He racked up over 4,000 minutes of first-team football and even contributed towards four goals.

The teenager has made an impressive start to the 2024/25 season, he has 13 appearances to his name and has already contributed towards four goals. The young defender’s consistent performances along with his ability to feature as a left-back as well as in the heart of the defence haven’t gone unnoticed.

On the back of his sensational progress, he was called up for the recent Nations League fixtures and ended up making his debut for the Netherlands. His international debut has further enhanced his reputation and it has now resulted in a lot of interest in him from across Europe.

The Gunners want to sign Hato

Arsenal are one of the clubs who have been monitoring him for a long while. With the amount of interest in Hato’s signature increasing gradually, the Gunners are looking to put their foot on the accelerator and bring him to North London.

Their representatives were in the stands to keep a close eye on the teenage defensive sensation during Netherlands recent clash against Germany. While the result didn’t go their way, Hato did impress at left-back. Arsenal are looking at him as an ideal candidate to bolster their backline for the long run.

Hato can not only strengthen their defensive rotation, but his arrival can secure the team’s future. But, signing him won’t be easy as his contract runs until the summer of 2028 and Ajax will demand a fortune for their 18-year-old defender who is a huge prospect.
