Real Madrid, Liverpool, Tottenham vying for Josh Acheampong

Real Madrid could get in the equation to sign Josh Acheampong, with Liverpool and Tottenham also expected in the chase for the Chelsea wonderkid.

According to The Independent, Real Madrid are seriously considering a move for Josh Acheampong in January, which could spark the race for the 18-year-old wonderkid. Liverpool and Tottenham are also interested in the Chelsea starlet, who the Blues consider important for their future.

Football is all about opportunities, even if they are only guaranteed for a shorter period. In Josh Acheampong’s case, he has a unique chance to join the stars of Real Madrid, albeit for a shorter period owing to Dani Carvajal’s injury.

Lucas Vazquez is Carvajal’s deputy. But Vazquez’s backup, Joan Martinez, 17, is also unavailable for the remainder of the season, meaning there is an important spot on Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Real Madrid were one of the interested sides earlier but did not find any headway in the chase.

However, in light of their injury problems, Real Madrid could revive their interest in the 18-year-old wonderkid ahead of the January transfer window. The idea of playing extensively for Ancelotti’s side would be a big career boost for Acheampong, and he may not disregard the thought of leaving Chelsea.

However, Real Madrid’s immediate reaction towards Acheampong could spark an eventful chase within the Premier League as Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle United are all interested. Fabrizio Romano recently ruled out a move to Newcastle United. However, should the player show readiness to leave, things could heat up.

Chelsea consider Acheampong important for their future

Acheampong will certainly like the idea of joining a club like Real Madrid, who are also interested in Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, should that move happen, Liverpool might eye the 18-year-old wonderkid as a replacement of sorts to compete alongside Conor Bradley for the right-back spot.

Tottenham are also in the mix for Acheampong, although Chelsea may end up disregarding the interest as there is a chance they will find a solution to keep him. The teenager has a contract until 2026, although should they receive a large offer in January from Real Madrid, they could think about a sale. However, their primary objective is to keep the right-back and make him a key part of their future.
