Kieran Tierney accepts Arsenal fate amid exit links

Kieran Tierney knows his fate as an Arsenal player and is willing to accept that a move away from the club is the only viable solution.

According to Caught Offside, Kieran Tierney knows he does not have a future at Arsenal and accepts his fate ahead of the January transfer window. The left-back, who cost the Gunners £25 million in 2019, will look to leave in the January window, as a serious injury at the Euros scuppered any transfer during the summer.

Kieran Tierney will have hoped to start a new chapter elsewhere in the summer, as he anticipated a permanent deal away from Arsenal. However, a serious injury while representing Scotland at the Euros may have scuppered any chance of leaving, as the left-back continues to build his fitness at the club.

Arsenal decided last summer that he was not part of their plans, which resulted in Tierney leaving on a loan deal to Real Sociedad. His injury troubles continued in Spain, and despite a considerable layoff with a hamstring problem, the £25 million Arsenal wide man did play around 26 games for the La Liga side.

Arsenal were eager to sell him for £20 million or more, but they would have been left disappointed at the serious injury suffered by the left-back. In any case, they have been supportive of his efforts to get fit again, as they will renew their stance of selling him ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

Tierney accepts his fate that he is not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans anymore, as he will look to start a new chapter elsewhere. The arrival of Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber’s return to fitness have left the Scotsman out of the manager’s plans.

Where can Tierney go?

Once fit, Tierney can have plenty of options on the table, although interested clubs will unlikely pay anywhere close to Arsenal’s summer asking price of £20 million-plus. In fact, his persistent injury troubles could play a big role in a price reduction, although his departure is more than certain in January.

There was interest from English clubs, including Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, as the Basque manager has a good knowledge of Tierney’s style of play. Some Spanish outfits could also enter the conversation, while former team Celtic are also keen. But it’s unlikely that Tierney will return to Scotland at this stage of his career.
