Manchester City have reportedly started to lay down the groundwork to bring Liverpool target Ederson to the club next year.
According to a report from Football Insider, Manchester City are keen on reinforcing their midfield in 2025, and they are interested in acquiring the services of Ederson, who has made quite a name for himself with his consistent performances for Atalanta.
Ederson came into the limelight because of his work at Salernitana. He then made the move to Atalanta in the summer of 2022 and has only gone from strength to strength. The Brazilian midfielder was one of their standout performers last season, and he played a massive part in their Europa League triumph.
The 25-year-old midfielder is capable enough to feature as a number six as well as a number eight. He has all the qualities to be one of the best in his position and there is a significant amount of interest in his services.
Liverpool are interested in Ederson
Liverpool are one of the clubs keen on signing the Brazilian international. Arne Slot wants to bring in a new defensive midfielder. They were after the signature of Martin Zubimendi during the summer, but that did not go according to plan.
Liverpool did showcase interest in Ederson and are believed to be still interested in his signature despite Ryan Gravenberch’s consistent performances. While the Brazilian has been linked with the Reds, Manchester City are looking to go all out to sign him next year.
Manchester City to go all out for Ederson
Pep Guardiola’s team received a massive blow in their game against Arsenal as Rodri picked up a serious knee injury, and he will be out for a long time. While the Spanish manager is looking for options in his squad, they are also exploring the market.
Ederson is a top target for Manchester City as he will be an ideal fit in Pep Guardiola’s system. The Premier League champions have already started to lay down the groundwork to bring him to England.
While his contract with the Serie A outfit runs until the summer of 2027, the Premier League giants have the financial might to prise him away. Manchester City are convinced that he can help them cope with Rodri’s absence, and they are willing to battle rivals Liverpool to his signature.
