Chelsea are all set to battle it out with rivals Liverpool for the services of Borussia Dortmund attacking sensation Karim Adeyemi.
According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea and Liverpool are both interested in acquiring the services of Karim Adeyemi, who has made quite a name for himself with his consistent performances in the Bundesliga.
The German international came into the limelight on the back of his performances for Red Bull Salzburg. His consistency helped him secure a move to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022. While he did find things difficult at the start, Adeyemi has established himself as a key part of their first team.
The 22-year-old did not have the best of the 2023/24 season as he could only manage a total of seven goal contributions. While there was a lot of chatter about his place in the team, the German forward has turned things around in some fashion.
He has made an exceptional start to the new season. Karim Adeyemi already has 10 goal contributions (5 goals, 5 assists) in his eight outings. Unfortunately, the youngster has picked up an injury that will keep him out until the end of November but his incredible start has attracted a significant amount of interest from the Premier League.
Liverpool and Chelsea to battle for Adeyemi
Liverpool are one of the clubs that have a long-standing interest in the 22-year-old. Arne Slot seeks more quality in the final third of the pitch, and people at Anfield feel Karim Adeyemi could be a great acquisition for the long run. While he prefers playing on the left flank, the Borussia Dortmund star can feature anywhere in the final third, which could give Slot great tactical.
While the Reds are positioning themselves to sign the German winger, Chelsea are all set to rival them in their pursuit. The Blues are always on the lookout for young players who can further bolster their squad, and they feel Adeyemi has the potential to be a special player.
In the long run, the young winger could help them re-establish themselves as contenders in the Premier League and the Champions League. A potential transfer could cost around €50 million, and both clubs seem interested in making such an investment to secure the German winger’s services. With Liverpool and Chelsea all set to go up against each other in this transfer battle, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
