Newcastle United rival Chelsea, Manchester City in Andrija Maksimovic chase

Newcastle United have joined Chelsea, Manchester City and other European bigwigs for Serbian teenage talent Andrija Maksimovic.

According to Caught Offside, Andrija Maksimovic could be involved in a major transfer tussle involving some of the big English and European clubs. Newcastle United are the latest to express an interest in the 17-year-old Serbian prodigy, with Manchester City, Chelsea, and some European bigwigs involved in the hunt.

Newcastle United are aiming to beat the competition for 17-year-old Serbian prodigy Andrija Maksimovic, who has been garnering plenty of attention from other big clubs. An attacking midfielder by trade, the teenager was in the starting lineup for Red Star Belgrade during their loss to Inter Milan in the Champions League.

The 17-year-old Serbian prodigy is getting massive interest in the market, given that he has only made four senior appearances for the club. He could have his breakthrough season, something Red Star Belgrade will hope he does, which would improve his market value, which stands at €1 million as per Transfermarkt

Newcastle United are interested in that very reason, as well as their drive to bring some young talents to develop them into big stars. The Magpies might have a chance if they can convince the player ahead of the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

This is a player closer to first-team action, meaning he would not mind moving to a club that offers him a regular role. Manchester City and Chelsea are currently stacked with talent, meaning Maksimovic will find it challenging to break into the first-team mould, at least for a few years.

European bigwigs interested in Maksimovic

The Serbian teenager not only has English interest but also from some of the European heavyweights. Juventus, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, and Borussia Dortmund are all in the mix, especially given his low transfer value at this point, as these sides will keep a close watch on his progress.

Any decision will stay with the player, as he might continue to feel that Red Star Belgrade is his best chance to develop for a year or two. However, there might not be any extensive guarantee that these sides will come for his signature in the future. However, should he continue featuring in the Champions League, that prospect might stay alive.
