Manchester United, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain are the clubs currently interested in Andriy Lunin next summer.
According to Fichajes, a host of top teams are keen on Andriy Lunin ahead of next summer. Manchester United, Manchester City, and PSG are among those interested in the Ukrainian keeper. He recently signed a new deal with Real Madrid, keeping him in the Spanish Capital until 2030.
Andriy Lunin was seemingly open to a new challenge when it became clear that he would be Real Madrid’s No.2 following Thibaut Courtois’ return from injury. During the Belgian’s absence for the duration of the previous campaign, the Ukranian usurped on-loan keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga’s spot and put in some critical performances for the club.
He missed the Champions League final because of illness, as Courtois made his return. However, his contract was expiring, which even made Real Madrid consider sending him to Chelsea in a deal for Arrizabalaga in the summer, but nothing materialised. Now, with the Ukrainian signing a new deal that lasts until 2030, the club can think about his future with clarity.
Lunin has plenty of suitors, including the two Manchester giants and PSG. The latter are in need of a new stopper capable of challenging Gianluigi Donnarumma for a spot in the starting lineup and could make an attractive proposition to sign him.
PSG is certainly an attractive destination, although there are chances the 25-year-old Real Madrid ace will also want to try out a few seasons in the Premier League. For that, he might have a few doors opening as Manchester United and Manchester City are keen on the Ukrainian.
Why are the Manchester clubs keen on Lunin?
Lunin has shown he can play at the highest level in La Liga and the Champions League, which has attracted the Manchester clubs. Pep Guardiola’s side are eager to open contract talks with No.1 choice Ederson Moraes, but there’s a chance he could leave next summer if the Saudi clubs come calling again. Highly-rated second-choice star Stefan Ortega could be a target for Barcelona in January.
On the other hand, Manchester United has yet to have a viable competitor for Andre Onana, with Altay Biyandir barely able to challenge the Cameroonian. Hence, the idea of Lunin might excite the Old Trafford chiefs. However, should Lunin come into any of those sides as a second choice, he might decide to stay at Real Madrid or move to a club where he is guaranteed the No.1 spot.
