Raphinha rejected Chelsea, Saudi Pro League clubs this summer

Chelsea and Saudi Pro League clubs failed in an attempt to secure the services of Barcelona attacking ace Raphinha during the summer.

According to Miguel Rico, Raphinha rejected offers from multiple Saudi Pro League clubs as well as Chelsea during the recently concluded transfer window. Despite the massive financial offers, the Brazilian international has decided to continue at Barcelona.

The Brazilian winger made a name for himself at Leeds United. His consistent performances for the Premier League outfit resulted in a significant amount of interest. Chelsea were one of the clubs keen on signing him back in the day.

The Blues had tabled a massive financial offer to lure him to the club but he ended up choosing Barcelona. He accepted a much lower offer to play for the Catalan giants. Despite his consistent performances, the 27-year-old winger’s future was uncertain during the summer.

He didn’t really have the best of relations with Xavi and wasn’t an integral part of their first team. As a result, the Brazilian international was linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer. But, he wasn’t keen on leaving.

There was significant interest in his services from the Saudi Pro League clubs. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr were ready to offer €80 million along with massive wages to bring him to the club. Jorge Jesus who had worked with him during his time at Sporting CP wanted to take him to Al-Hilal. But, the player was completely focused on staying at Barcelona.

Chelsea who tried to sign him before he made the move to Spain were also interested in his services. They were looking to add more quality on the flanks and before they decided to bring in Jadon Sancho and Joao Felix, Raphinha was at the top of their wishlist.

The Blues did try to lure him but their attempts to bring him back to the Premier League didn’t yield any positive results. Raphinha is happy to continue at the Spanish club where he has a contract until the summer of 2027. He has made a flying start to the new season with five goals and three assists in his eight league outings and seems to be a key figure in Hansi Flick’s team.
