Arsenal and Manchester City keen on Ruben van Bommel

AZ Alkmaar’s highly-rated winger Ruben van Bommel is attracting the interest of top clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester City.

According to TBR, Arsenal and Manchester City could go head-to-head for the signature of Ruben van Bommel in the future. The 20-year-old highly-rated Dutch winger has emerged as a target for the Premier League giants, with the AZ Alkmaar talent tipped to become a major star in the future.

Arsenal and Manchester City contested a high-octane Premier League contest last Sunday, with the fallout from that game signifying their rivalry has taken itself to the next level. The two Premier League giants are currently the favourites to have yet another title challenge, and their paths could cross once again in the transfer market.

The two teams have had their bouts off the field for the same targets in the past, with Declan Rice and Kai Havertz the most recent example. Manchester City reportedly wanted the duo and had even made a massive bid for the England midfielder, with Arsenal pipping them for both those stars.

They could cross paths for a few more players in the future, with Florian Wirtz a target for both, as the German superstar could be the subject of big bigs next summer. Similarly, they are also keen on Swedish midfielder Hugo Larsson, as the two clubs could have many more similar targets in the upcoming windows.

Now, they are in the mix for AZ Alkmaar’s 20-year-old, highly-rated Dutch winger Ruben van Bommel. The attacker has had a bright start to his Eredivisie season with two goals and as many assists in six games, as keeping up this form could attract a big bid from one of Arsenal and Manchester City in the future.

Will Van Bommel leave the Eredivisie?

There’s no right time for Eredivisie players to leave for a more significant challenge, and in Van Bommel’s case, he might be ready for that big move. The son of former Netherlands star Mark van Bommel, Ruben has had his breakthrough season with Alkmaar last term, and this might be his last with the club if he keeps up his form.

He has already managed to come close to his tally of goals and assists from last season, and should he have an extensive campaign, those teams like Arsenal and Man City will not go away. Hence, it’s a big season for the 20-year-old, highly-rated Dutch winger to perform at his highest levels and take his career to new heights.
