Chelsea make contact to sign Victor Osimhen

Chelsea have established fresh contact with Victor Osimhen’s agent regarding a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Victor Osimhen’s future was a major talking point throughout the summer. The Nigerian international was linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe. But, he couldn’t secure a move away from Napoli.

Chelsea who failed to strike a deal for his services during the summer, retains interest in him and according to a report from TEAMtalk, the Blues have made fresh contact with the player’s agent regarding a move to the London club.

Osimhen has established himself as one of the best forwards in world football thanks to his heroics for Napoli in recent seasons. While he was a key part of their first team setup until last season, the 25-year-old forward’s relations with the Italian club completely broke down.

He was keen on securing a move away from the club and the Naples-based club were ready to sanction his departure. While there was no shortage of interest in his services, neither club were ready to meet the Italian club’s demands.

PSG, Chelsea and Al-Ahli from the Saudi Pro League were keen on signing him. The French giants withdrew from the race while the Middle East club ended up signing Ivan Toney. Chelsea did make a last-gasp attempt to secure his services but it didn’t go according to plan for him.

Chelsea retain interest in Osimhen

Osimhen eventually ended up joining Galatasaray on a season-long loan. But, there is a break clause which helps Napoli recall him and complete a permanent switch. Chelsea are the ones who could once again make a move for him in the near future.

While they failed to sign him in the summer, the Blues retain an interest in his services and are still hopeful of securing his services. Osimhen had penned down a new deal with Napoli before joining the Turkish giants. The new deal will see his release clause go from a massive £108.3 million (€130m) to £62.5m (€75m).

Chelsea’s search for a new number nine continues and Osimhen could be the one who solves quite a few problems for them. The Blues have already held fresh talks to sign him in 2025. The Nigerian is at the top of their wishlist and they could return for him in the winter or the summer of next year depending on how things pan out for him this season.
