Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing 26-year-old Swedish goal machine Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are vying for the signature of Viktor Gyokeres. The four Premier League clubs are keen on signing a striker next year, with the Sporting CP attacker emerging as a target. The Swedish international has a release clause worth €100 million in his contract with the Portuguese giants.
Viktor Gyokeres and his impeccable rise
Viktor Gyokeres has transformed into a goal machine since joining Sporting CP from Coventry City in July 2023. The Swede has proven to be one of the best-kept secrets in European football after representing unfancied clubs for much of his career before moving to Portugal last year.
The 26-year-old has gone from strength to strength in the last 12 months, scoring goals for fun while being one of the most productive players in the world. Gyokeres has continued that this term, contributing to 14 goals in only eight games across all competitions thus far by finding the back of the net 11 times and providing three assists.
In addition, Gyokeres has taken that form to the international stage, stamping his authority during his outings for Sweden. Meanwhile, the Swedish striker’s exploits for his club and country have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham vying for his signature.
A man in demand
Arsenal’s interest in Viktor Gyokeres is understandable, considering Kai Havertz is the only reliable striker at the Emirates. As for Chelsea, the West London club wanted to sign Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window before a move failed to see the light of day. The Sporting CP striker is thus a viable target for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur do not need new strikers unless they offload at least one attacker from their squads. Nevertheless, the two Premier League heavyweights are vying with Arsenal and Chelsea for the Swede’s signature.
Recent reports have claimed that a winter move might be possible, with Sporting CP open to selling Gyokeres in the January transfer window. However, the 26-year-old Swedish international will cost a bomb, with his contract having a release clause worth €100 million.
