A host of clubs are tracking Club Tijuana youngster Gilberto Mora, including some of the Premier League sides and Barcelona.

According to Caught Offside, Gilberto Mora has garnered a lot of attention from Europe, as a host of clubs are tracking the progress of the 15-year-old Mexican prodigy. The youngster has already made his first team breakthrough with Club Tijuana, with Barcelona and some Premier League clubs among those keen.

Gilberto Mora is in high demand

These days, top clubs are always on the lookout for young talents emerging from different academies throughout the world. South America has been the big hub for European teams to raid the academies of clubs here, and now a Mexican side could be in the equation.

Mexican club Club Tijuana has a big star in the making in their squad, with 15-year-old prodigy Gilberto Mora putting those big teams from Europe on high alert. The youngster became the youngest-ever player to appear in the Mexican top flight and score a goal.

Scouts from top teams have already seen a bit of the 15-year-old Mexican prodigy, and now clubs like Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Tottenham are scouting the youngster further. Hence, there is the angle of a move for the future on the cards, as rules in the North American country state players cannot join a European club until they turn 18.

Hence, there is an expectation that Mora might have to stay in Tijuana for the foreseeable future, although those English teams may still try to wrap up an early deal to bring the player in when he turns 18. However, Manchester City, Crystal Palace, and Tottenham face a unique threat in the form of Barcelona, who have invited the 15-year-old Mexican prodigy to visit their famed La Masia academy.

Barcelona offer La Masia an invitation to Gilberto Mora

Barcelona are interested in Mora and are making headway in the chase, as they have invited the youngster to visit their famed La Masia academy. Rules for minors state they should have permission from their parents before making this visit, and there’s a feeling this could be sorted.

Barcelona could have a particular upper hand as they have a significant influence on Mexican football. Former defender and youth coach Rafael Marquez could play a role in convincing Mora to join the Catalans, as the report states the former star does influence players in the country. Hence, the Catalans are the biggest threat to Premier League sides in the chase for the 15-year-old Mexican prodigy.
