Barcelona view Benjamin Sesko as one of the alternatives to top target Erling Haaland, as the 21-year-old could leave RB Leipzig next summer.
According to HITC, Barcelona are interested in Benjamin Sesko ahead of next summer. The Catalans view the Slovenian as a significant alternative to top striker target Erling Haaland, as there are doubts about a move for the Norwegian superstar. At the same time, the 21-year-old could leave RB Leipzig next summer.
Benjamin Sesko is on Barcelona’s radar
Benjamin Sesko had an eventful summer as he turned down the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to continue with RB Leipzig. He also signed a new deal with the Bundesliga giants, although there’s a reported ‘Gentleman’s Agreement’ between the two parties to let him leave if the right offer arrives.
Arsenal have reportedly cooled their interest as they could prioritise other names in the market whenever they enter the frame for a new striker. Chelsea’s stance remains unknown, although they did have an interest in Sesko and could retain an admiration ahead of future windows.
The Slovenian is sure to move on to a bigger club sooner rather than later, and it could be Barcelona where he plays his football next. The Catalans are in the market for a new striker, as they could get rid of Robert Lewandowski next summer, with Viktor Gyokeres considered a key target.
Sesko has now emerged on Barcleona’s radar as they view him as an alternative to priority target Erling Haaland. The upside of the 21-year-old is that he is young and fits the profile of a modern striker that could grace the Camp Nou for years to come. For any move to materialise, Barcelona must pay the required fee that Leipzig desires for the attacker, although things might open up next year.
Erling Haaland is a difficult target
Erling Haaland is on Barcleona’s priority list despite the enormous finances involved in signing the Norwegian. Manchester City are actively trying to sign him up to a new deal and are willing to include a release clause that allows the striker to have control over his future.
However, the Norwegian’s wages and the size of that release clause could deter Barcelona from moving forward for Haaland. Hence, the Catalans must identify and do the groundwork on several alternative targets, including Sesko.
