Bayern Munich and Marseille are reportedly looking at Mykhailo Mudryk as a potential January option, as Chelsea could offload the Ukrainian.
According to Team Talk, Mykhailo Mudryk could be available for a transfer in the January window, with Bayern Munich and Marseille emerging as early suitors. Chelsea are steadily losing faith in their big-money signing, as the Ukrainian winger could attract loan suitors in the winter window.
Mykhailo Mudruk’s future uncertain
Mykhailo Mudryk was supposed to be a big enough signing that wwas expected to propel Chelsea into new heights. The Blues spent just over £88 million, including add-ons, on the Ukrainian winger back in January 2023, beating the challenge posed by Arsenal in the race.
Mudryk has barely performed at decent levels since his arrival and has steadily fallen out of favour under new manager Enzo Maresca. The Italian boss did make some direct comments about his form and performances, and he has not selected him in two of the four Premier League games this season. Moreover, the arrival of Jadon Sancho could further diminish his status on the side and reduce his game time.
Chelsea could offload Mudryk in January if they can get a decent offer, although the chances of a permanent move seem remote. Hence, they could view a loan deal as something acceptable in these circumstances, with the player also likely to consider an exit if his game time diminishes.
Chelsea is certainly not going to get anywhere close to the £88 million-plus they paid for Mudryk 18 months ago, but a loan move could help them retain some of the player’s value. Contractually, Mudryk has a deal until 2031, meaning there’s plenty of time for them to keep faith in the winger, and they hope he improves his performance with a possible loan spell.
Bayern Munich and Marseille interested
Bayern were keen to sign him back in January, but Chelsea ensured the winger stayed at Stamford Bridge. While the report states the Bavarians could still be enthusiastic, the likelihood of that seems unlikely as the interest was mainly from Thomas Tuchel, who has since left the club, and Bayern is full of exciting wingers anyway.
Marseille could be a solid option for Mudryk to consider, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side showing early promise and could look for January reinforcements. The French giants have made some key signings in the summer and could offer Mudryk the platform he deserves.
