Arsenal and Chelsea scouts watched Viktor Gyokeres in action during Sporting CP’s Champions League opener against LOSC Lille.
According to HITC, Viktor Gyokeres’ goalscoring performance for Sporting CP in the Champions League was noticed by scouts from Arsenal and Chelsea present in Lisbon. The striker remains a target for the London giants, as they could potentially think about a January approach for the Swede.

Viktor Gyokeres refuses to leave the papers and continues to be a regular feature when it comes to transferring links to some of the biggest clubs. The Swedish striker has continued his tremendous form for Sporting CP since their title-winning campaign and already has 9 goals in 7 games this season.
The latest of those strikes came in Sporting CP’s Champions League opener at home when they hosted LOSC Lille. Ruben Amorim’s side ran out 2-0 winners, with Gyokeres opening the scoring in the 28th minute, as he did miss a few good chances before that goal came about.
The report states scouts from Arsenal and Chelsea were present during the match and will have returned with glowing reports on Gyokeres. The London giants are planning to sign him in 2025, although there’s no clarity on whether they are willing to make a significant approach in the January window. Arsenal could potentially have the upper hand, but the Blues are also not behind in the chase if it comes to these clubs competing.
Gyokeres could become a big target in the winter window if he continues on his goalscoring form in Sporting CP colours. Arsenal and Chelsea could seek a new striker in January, as the Gunners will evaluate their attacking performances between now and then, while Chelsea was eager to bring in a new No.9 in the summer but failed to sign their reported targets.

There are significant doubts whether any transfer of Gyokeres away from Sporting would materialise in January. While the striker is unlikely to move in mid-season, the only way he could leave is by interested clubs offering to pay his release clause, which stands at a staggering £84 million.
The idea of paying as much for the player may seem absurd for any club, and Arsenal or Chelsea, as they could emerge as suitors next summer when they can have flexible terms with Sporting CP. Hence, the chances of Gyokeres leaving in the winter window are remote, as the Portuguese side will fight to keep him in any case.
