Manchester City keen on Tijjani Reijnders

Manchester City eyeing Pablo Barrios as Martin Zubimendi alternative.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are interested in acquiring the services of AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester City have taken note of Tijjani Reijnders’s impressive rise at AC Milan and the English giants could soon knock on the doors of the Italian giants to sign the Dutch midfield star.

Reijnders’s consistent performances for AZ Alkmaar resulted in a move to AC Milan last summer. The Italian outfit forked out just €18 million to sign the 26-year-old midfielder who has only gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months.

He had an exceptional debut season for the Italian club where he was involved in 50 matches and ended up contributing towards eight goals. While the majority of his appearances came as a central midfielder, the Dutch international even featured in an attacking role as well as a defensive role when needed.

His consistent performances along with his versatility haven’t gone unnoticed. Apart from his impressive work for Milan, Reijnders has also made a name for himself with his work on the international stage for the Netherlands,

The former Alkmaar star now finds himself on the wishlist of some of the biggest clubs in Europe thanks to his impressive rise. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are one of the clubs linked with the 26-year-old.

City could soon make a move for Reijnders

The English outfit are always on the lookout for players who can fit into the Spanish manager’s tactical setup and they feel the versatile Dutch midfielder could be a great signing for them. His ability to organise play and to adapt to different roles make him a great option for City.

While the Manchester-based club already have a star-studded midfield, they do need to freshen things up with Kevin De Bruyne and İlkay Gündoğan on the wrong side of 30. Reijnders is entering his prime and it might be just the perfect time to invest in the Dutch midfielder.

Milan consider him an integral part of their first team and they do not have any intentions of negotiating his departure. But, things could change if City come knocking with a formal offer as Italian clubs do not have the best financial situation. Reijnders’s value has gone up to €40 million and it could be a great opportunity for them to book a massive profit on the 26-year-old.
