Liverpool, Manchester United rival Chelsea in Patrick Dorgu chase, Real Madrid also keen

Chelsea will face competition from Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United for the services of Lecce sensation Patrick Dorgu.

The future of Patrick Dorgu has become a big talking point thanks to his consistent performances in the Serie A and his impressive debut for Denmark in the UEFA Nations League. Chelsea are one of the clubs keen on signing the teenage sensation but according to a report from TEAMtalk, the Blues will face competition from Liverpool and Manchester United.

After coming up the ranks at FC Nordsjaelland, Dorgu made the move to Lecce in the summer of 2022. He started with their Under-19 team and was promoted to their first team last summer after his move to the Italian outfit was made permanent.

Patrick Dorgu had an exceptional debut campaign where the majority of his appearances came as a left-back. On the back of his performances and his ability to feature in any role on either flank, multiple top clubs were linked with the Danish sensation.

However, interested clubs considered Lecce’s initial €30 million valuation to be on the higher side and nothing concrete happened during the summer. But, his impressive start to the 2024/25 season and his debut for the Danish national team have resulted in a lot of interest.

Chelsea keen on signing the €40 million star

Dorgu’s value has risen to €40 million, and there is no shortage of interest in his services. While the Serie A outfit want to extend his stay, they were going to find it difficult to keep hold of the 19-year-old who is on the wishlist of Chelsea.

Patrick Dorgu is a Chelsea fan, and he has talked about his desire to join the Blues. He could be a great fit for their new project that revolves around having the best young players in every position. The Lecce start could be a great signing and his versatility could be a massive boost for Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea to face significant competition for Dorgu

The Blues could make a concrete move as early as January to ensure they beat the competition. But, it still won’t be easy to prise him away as Liverpool and Manchester United are also keen on his signature. Both Premier League outfits seek depth on the flanks, and Dorgu’s versatility could solve quite a few of their problems.

Apart from the English giants, Real Madrid are also in the mix as per a report from Defensa Central. Los Blancos consider the teenager to be a star in the making and their chief scout Juni Calafat is keeping a close eye on him. They could move in for his signature if Alphonso Davies ends up extending his stay at Bayern Munich.
