Liverpool have been linked with a move for 21-year-old Bayern Munich attacker Jamal Musiala, a target for Manchester City.
Jamal Musiala is highly rated across Europe, and he is regarded as one of the best young attackers in the game. According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are increasingly interested in signing the Bundesliga prospect, and they will face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City.
Liverpool need to bring in attacking options in the coming months, and the German international would be a quality long-term addition. He could be the ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah, who has been linked with an exit from the club.
The Egyptian international will be out of contract in 2025, and Liverpool have not managed to secure a contract extension with him yet. Salah might move on as a free agent, and he will need to be replaced adequately.
The 21-year-old Bayern MUnich attacker certainly has the quality to step up and fill the void left by the Egyptian. He is capable of operating as the central attacking midfielder, a second striker and a winger.
Musiala would be a quality addition
Musiala has already established himself as a key player for Bayern Munich, and he has the physical and technical attributes to do well in English football as well. The 21-year-old could hit the ground running in the Premier League, and he could transform Liverpool in the attack.
However, the attacker is valued at €180 million, and it seems highly unlikely that Liverpool will pay that kind of money for him. The Merseyside outfit will have to improve the other areas of their squad as well, and they simply cannot afford to pay the asking price for the German.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are looking to add more quality and depth to their attacking unit after the departure of Julian Alvarez, with Musiala a target. Alvarez joined La Liga club Atletico Madrid this past summer. Manchester City must look to replace him adequately, and the German international seems like the ideal fit.
Jamal Musiala has the technical attributes to adapt to Pep Guardiola’s style of football, and he could establish himself as a key player for the Premier League champions. However, coughing up €180 million might be a tall order, even for Manchester City. In addition, Bayern Munich want to tie him to a new contract.
