Liverpool and Chelsea keen on Chris Rigg

A host of top clubs are chasing Chris Rigg, dubbed the next Jude Bellingham, as Sunderland ponder his short-term future.

According to Give Me Sport, Chris Rigg has become highly sought after following an excellent start to the Championship season with Sunderland. Liverpool and Chelsea are among his admirers, while Manchester City and Champions League holders Real Madrid have held concrete interest for a while now.

Chris Rigg has huge admirers

Sunderland has two huge talents on their hands, which the world has noticed over the past few months. One is Jobe Bellingham, the younger sibling of Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham, and 17-year-old Chris Rigg. Although the club has numerous other talents on its squad, these two stand out in terms of market interest.

Sticking with Rigg, who incidentally is directly compared to Jude Bellingham for his style of play and prospects. Incidentally, Real Madrid were interested and remain an admirer of his talent, as they could ponder a move next year.

Sunderland have had a tremendous start to the Championship season, with four wins from four and topping the table. After playing a cameo role in the opening game, Rigg has now emerged as a sure starter for the side, and this may appear to be the season he will find his feet in the senior squad.

Rigg’s presence makes Sunderland a top prospect for their long-awaited return to the Premier League after an eight-year hiatus. They certainly hope so, as that will improve their chances of keeping the 17-year-old Championship prodigy in the team for maybe longer. Chelsea and Liverpool are among those admiring the star ahead of next summer, as there’s a decision for the Black Cats to make.

Rigg could stay at Sunderland

Sunderland will likely keep their minds open about Rigg’s future. Should they return to the Premier League next year, selling the 17-year-old Championship prodigy would benefit them in building the squad for the top flight, although they could also have the chance to persuade him over a stay.

The interest from big shots like Liverpool and Chelsea will turn the teenager’s head, although he will also think about his development. There’s plenty of time left in his career to make that big switch, as a year in the Premier League with Sunderland will only aid his development, where he could cement his place as a sure starter should he perform at the highest levels this season.
