Chelsea are not interested in a loan transfer of Carney Chukwuemeka and would prefer to sell the 20-year-old misfit on a permanent basis.
According to Fabrizio Romano on Caught Offside, Chelsea would prefer to offload Carney Chukwuemeka on a permanent transfer and would not want to send him out on loan. The former Aston Villa star appears to have frozen from first-team action for the time being, as the Italian transfer expert also cooled talk of a move to Galatasaray.
No loan move for Carney Chukwuemeka
Chukwuemena was supposed to be the next big midfielder in English football following his early displays for Aston Villa. Chelsea took the opportunity to broker a quick deal with the Birmingham-based side by paying a hefty fee to get the exciting midfielder to Stamford Bridge.
Injuries have played a big part in his stunted development, as Carney Chukwuemeka has barely played since joining the club over two years ago. In the summer, he was told to leave the Blues for a new challenge, and despite some interest from different clubs, a move never materialised, which left Chelsea astonished to a certain degree.
Galatasaray were interested in a late move as the Turkish markets are probably open for another day, meaning it is a race against time for them to finalise a move if they wish to sign the 20-year-old misfit. However, Fabrizio Romano has cooled talk of a switch to the 23/24 Turkish champions, as he insists that Chelsea are not desperate to offload him quickly.
That said, the Blues have no plans to include him in Enzo Maresca’s plans and would prefer to sell him outright over a loan deal. As Romano insists that there are no concrete talks with Galatasaray, it does appear that Carney Chukwuemeka might have to wait until January to get his exit from the Blues, who will not let him leave on loan.
Chukwuemeka has top suitors
Any sale of Chukwuemeka will depend on reports on how he is training with Chelsea, probably with the reserve squad, and his conduct while being banished from first-team action. More importantly, interested parties will evaluate his fitness, as they will not take a risk on a player who has been marred with injury issues over the past two years.
AC Milan is interested in Chukwuemeka, and some other English sides could enter the equation. However, any transfer will significantly depend on Chelsea’s asking price, as there is a greater chance they will demand more than what they paid for the 20-year-old misfit two years ago.
