Arsenal rule out 2025 move for Victor Osimhen

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will not be making a move for the services of Chelsea attacking target Victor Osimhen in 2025.

According to a report from GiveMeSport, Arsenal will not reignite their interest in the services of Victor Osimhen. While the Gunners did monitor him during the summer, they won’t go after his signature even if the Chelsea target expresses a strong desire to move to the Premier League in 2025.

Osimhen managed to establish himself as one of the best attackers in world football after making the move to Napoli from LOSC Lille. While he was one of the mainstays of the Serie A club’s first team until last season, a lot has changed in recent months.

The 25-year-old is no longer on good terms with the people at the club, and he was pushing for a move away from the club during the summer window. While he could not secure a permanent move, the Nigerian striker has ended up joining Galatasaray on a season-long loan after being frozen out of the squad.

While he has joined the Turkish giants for the 2024/25 season, Osimhen could still secure a permanent switch when the transfer window reopens in January as there is an option to cut short his loan spell. The former Lille striker has no future at Napoli, and he has already agreed to a fresh release clause worth £63 million that could be triggered in the winter.

Arsenal won’t make a move for Osimhen in 2025

Arsenal are one of the clubs that have been linked with the Nigerian ace. The Gunners monitored him ahead of the summer transfer window. But, he never really became an out-and-out target for them. While they remain interested in his services, the Gunners have already ruled out the possibility of signing Osimhen.

The North London club want a new number nine and having failed to secure one in the summer, their search continues. But, Arsenal have decided they won’t compete for the Napoli ace even if he is keen on moving to England in the winter.

Having seen how things have turned out between the Nigerian striker and the Partenopei, Mikel Arteta’s team do not want to bring in someone whose personality and character could cause problems in the dressing room.

Chelsea have an advantage in Osimhen’s pursuit

With the Gunners taking a back seat, Chelsea now have a clear path to push for the 25-year-old’s services. The Blues had him as their top target for the summer, but they couldn’t strike a deal for his services. While they did fail to get it over the line in the summer, the West London club have retained their interest and could look to trigger his new release clause at the turn of the year.
